	Description
	Acular [Ketorolac] is an eye care product. Acular is the brand name while the ingredient is Ketorolac tromethamine. Acular [Ketorolac] is an ophthalmic solution and is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug NSAID. It also has the properties of analgesic anti-inflammatory and anti-pyretic. This eye medicine Acular is a clear colorless to slight yellow sterile topical ophthalmic solution. It is supplied in sterile dropper bottles which contains 5 ml solution. Acular [Ketorolac] eye drops is available in two strengths - 0.5 strength and 0.4 strength. The 0.5 strength is used in the prevention and relief of eye inflammation which is caused due to cataract surgery while the 0.4 strength is indicated for reducing the eye pain burning stinging tearing sensitivity to light and the feeling of some object in the eye after corrective laser eye surgery. Acular [Ketorolac] at times produces an inflammation of the cornea which can lead to sight-threatening breakdown of the cornea. In case you develop sensitivity to light and a sensation of a foreign body in your eye then you need to contact your physician immediately and discontinue Acular. Acular [Ketorolac] acts by reducing the hormones which cause inflammation and pain in the body. It works by hampering the prostaglandins in the aqueous humor. This ophthalmic solution can be used safely in conjunction with other ophthalmic medicines like antibiotics beta blockers carbonic anhydrase inhibitors cycloplegics and mydriatics. Acular is contraindicated in people with blood coagulation disorders corneal degeneration corneal erosion diabetes mellitus cornea disorders dry eye hemophilia and rheumatoid arthritis. To relieve the symptoms of eye complaints lubricating eye drops along with cold compresses can be used over the eyes. You should avoid doubling the dose to patch up with a missed dose.


	How to use
	Acular [Ketorolac] eye medication is to be applied to the affected eyes generally 4 times in a day or as directed by the physician. You should wash your hands prior to the application of the eye drops. Avoid touching the dropper tip to avoid contamination. You need to tilt your head back look upwards and then pull your lower eyelid downwards. The dropper has to be directly held over your eye and one drop is to be placed into the eye. Then look downwards and close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. With the help of one finger placed at the corner of your eye you need to apply gentle pressure so that the medication shall be prevented from draining out. Avoid blinking or rubbing your eye. The same steps have to be repeated for the other eye if directed. The dropper should be rinsed and the dropper cap should be replaced after every use. Keep a gap of at least five minutes between the using of any two eye medications. This eye care medicine should be generally used for a short period.


	Side Effects
	Acular [Ketorolac] side effects are stinging and burning. Other harmful effects are allergic reactions corneal edema iritis ocular inflammation ocular irritation superficial keratitis superficial ocular infections corneal infiltrates corneal ulcer eye dryness headaches and visual disturbance blurry vision.


	Drug Interaction
	NSAIDs such as aspirin ibuprofen or naproxen may accelerate the chances of bleeding.


	Over Dose
	If overdose is suspected contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.


	Missed Dose
	If you are instructed to use this drug on a regular schedule: use the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double-up the dose to catch up.


	Uses
	Acular [Ketorolac] eye solution is indicated in temporary relief of ocular itching which is caused due to seasonal allergic conjunctivitis in postoperative inflammation after cataract extraction.


	Storage
	Acular [Ketorolac] should be stored in room temperature between 59-86 degrees F 15-30 degrees C and should be kept away from light and moisture. In case the color of the medication changes or becomes cloudy or develops particles then it should be discarded. This treatment for eye complaints should be kept away from children and pets.


	Precaution
	People with known bleeding tendencies or those who are receiving other medicines which may prolong the bleeding time. Use during late pregnancy and in nursing woman is to be avoided. Should not be administered while wearing contact lenses. Caution should be taken while treating people who are sensitive to these drugs. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications.
