	Description
	Adapin [Dexopin] is an anti depressive drug which belongs to the class of drugs called Tertiary Tricyclic. The brand name of the drug Doxepin is Adapin. Adapin [Dexopin] is a psychotropic agent with antidepressant and anxiolytic properties. It also produces sedative effects and anti cholinergic effects. When Adapin is administered in higher dosage then it produces peripheral adrenergic blocking effects. Adapin [Dexopin] is found to be very beneficial in the recovery of several different types of depression. It is also useful in reducing tension elevating mood improving sleep and easing fears. Adapin is available in capsules ranging from 10 mg to 150 mg. It is also available in the liquid form in 10 mg/ml. Most favorable improvement in the symptoms of depression is seen after 2-3 weeks while the anti-anxiety effects occur much earlier. Adapin [Dexopin] is an antidepressant which is used to treat depression and anxiety. To take you away from the depressive mood and thoughts Adapin acts on the central nervous system consisting of the brain and the nerves. This anit-depressive medication Adapin acts by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a chemical which is responsible for the affection of one’s mood. Three to four weeks may be required by Adapin to achieve the desired effect. Adapin is a medicine which is used for curing depression In case you miss any of your doses avoid doubling your dose to compensate with the missed dose. You should avoid stopping the medicine abruptly and without consulting your physician. Cimetidine Tagamet may increase the breakdown of doxepin by the liver and can accelerate doxepin blood levels probably producing side effects from doxepin.

Adapin [Dexopin] can also be indicated in the treatment of anxiety chronic skin disorders itching panic disorders peptic ulcer disease postprandial hypoglycemia posttraumatic stress disorder PTSD sleep disorders swellingetc. Adapin [Dexopin] is also been indicated to alleviate chronic pain in arthritis diabetic disease herpes lesions migraines cancer tension headaches or tic douloureux.


	Storage
	Adapin [Dexopin] should be stored in light resistant and air tight container. It should be stored in room temperature less than 86°F 30°C. The medicine should be kept away from the reach of children. Unused medicine should be disposed after the expiry date.


	Precaution
	Avoid using this drug in case you are pregnant or are planning to conceive or are nursing. Avoid smoking or drinking alcohol while consuming this drug.
