Description
Disulfiram is an alcohol antagonist drug used to help overcome drinking problem. Antabuse drugs are only available with doctor’s prescription.

This Antabuse medication is used along with counseling and support to treat alcoholism. Disulfiram medication works by blocking the processing of alcohol in the body. This causes you to have a bad reaction when you drink alcohol. Before using this medication tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use especially of: amitriptyline blood thinners e.g. warfarin certain medications for seizures e.g. hydantoins such as phenytoin/fosphenytoin isoniazid theophylline.
How to use
The Antabuse dosage may vary from person to person depending upon the condition. It is always advisable to follow your doctor’s advice.

1. Teenagers and adults: Once a day for 1 or 2 week in the beginning. Then your
doctor may changes the dose to a lower form.

2. Children: Must be prescribed by your doctor.
Side Effects

Storage
Antabuse should be stored at room temperature between 68-77 degrees F 20-25 degrees C away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Antabuse medicines away from children and pets.
Precaution
Do not take any alcohol not even in a small amount while taking this medicine and after 14days while you stop taking it because it will cause you sickness.
Do not use alcohol-containing products foods or medicines such as tonics elixirs sauces cough syrups vinegars gargles or mouthwashes.
Do not take any alcohol-containing products on open wounds or raw skins.
Do not come in the contact with fumes of chemicals that may contain acetaldehyde alcohol.
