Azilect [Rasagiline] may cause certain side effects in some patients who have been using it. The following side effects are common but not serious. They usually go away within some time as and when the body gets used to the medication. In case they persist, the doctor should be contacted.
Depression
Mild headache
Hair loss
Tingling sensation or numbness in parts of the body
Constipation, stomach upset or pain, vomiting, weight loss, diarrhea
Strange dreams
Joint pain
Spinning sensation, dizziness
Skin rash
Loss of appetite, dry mouth
Impotence and drop in libido
Flu symptoms.
Some side effects of the medication may be serious. They are as follows. In case they do occur, the doctor should be contacted as soon as possible.
Sudden weakness or numbness, blurred speech, problems in balancing oneself
Fever, agitation, overactive reflexes, diarrhea, fainting, hallucinations, fast heart rate, nausea, loss of co-ordination, vomiting
Very high blood pressure, symptoms of which are severe headache, anxiety, chest pain, uneven heartbeat, blurred vision, confusion, shortness of breath
Stiffness of muscles.
