	Description
	Depakote [Divalproex sodium] is a medication which is indicated to treat epilepsy and mania associated with bipolar disorder. It is also indicated in the prevention of migraine and in the control of behavioral problems that are associated with dementia. The content of this medicine is divalproex sodium. Depakote [Divalproex sodium] works by reinstating the balance of certain natural substances neurotransmitters in the brain. Depakote [divalproex sodium] is a compound which includes sodium valproate and valproic acid. Depakote [Divalproex sodium] tablets are used for oral administration. These tablets are available in three different dosage strengths which contain divalproex sodium equivalent to 125 mg delayed-release tablets 250 mg delayed-release tablets or 500 mg delayed-release tablets of valproic acid. The inactive ingredients of Depakote [Divalproex sodium] are cellulosic polymers diacetylated monoglycerides povidone pregelatinized starch contains corn starch silica gel talc titanium dioxide and vanillin. Doubling of doses of Depakote [Divalproex sodium] should be avoided in case of missed dose. Overdose of Depakote [Divalproex sodium] too should be avoided. In case of over dose immediate medical attention should be sought for. Depakote [Divalproex sodium] is not indicated in persons suffering with hepatic disease or significant hepatic dysfunction or in individuals hypersensitive to the drug and in persons with known urea cycle disorders. To get effective results Depakote [Divalproex sodium] should be taken regularly. To keep the amount of medication in the blood constant it should be consumed at the same time each day. You should avoid stopping this medication without the consultation of your doctor in case this medication is taken for seizures. In case the medicine is suddenly stopped then the condition of the patient may become worse. The dose requires to be gradually decreased.


	How to use
	Depakote [Divalproex sodium] ahs to be taken orally and in case of stomach upset it must be taken with food. The tablet should be swallowed as a whole. It should not be crushed or chewed as it can irritate the mouth or throat. The dose of Depakote [Divalproex sodium] varies from patient to patient. The dose suggested is 10 to 15 milligrams to be taken once daily. But the dose shall vary in case you have any kidney problem or if you are taking a diuretic or for adults over the age of 65. The amount of tablets or capsules taken the time between doses and the duration the drug is taken is all dependent on the medical problem.

	Storage

It should be stored far from light and moisture and avoid storing it in the bathroom.
