Drontal Plus is a broad spectrum anthelmintic medicine with three active ingredients such as Praziquantel, Pyrantel pamoate and Febantel. Drontal Plus [Praziquantel, Pyrantel pamoate, Febantel] is available in a form of tablets for oral administration with different strengths for different sizes and species of dog.
For Puppies and Small Dogs, each Drontal Plus tablet contains 22.7mg praziquantel, 22.7mg pyrantel pamoate and 113.4mg febantel.
For Medium Sized Dogs, each Drontal Plus tablet contains 68.0 mg praziquantel, 68.0 mg pyrantel pamoate and 340.2 mg febantel.
For Large Dogs, each Drontal Plus tablet contains 136.0 mg praziquantel, 136.0 mg pyrantel pamoate and 680.4 mg febantel.
Three different active ingredients present in Drontal Plus [Praziquantel, Pyrantel pamoate, Febantel] have different activities, such as;
Praziquantel: Praziquantel is active against tapeworm. It is absorbed and metabolized in liver and excreted in bile. Through bile it enters the digestive tract where its activities are exhibited. Following exposure to Praziquantel, the majority of tapeworms including scolices, are digested and are not found in feces. In many instances, only disintegrated and partially digested pieces of tapeworm will be seen in stool.
Pyrantel pamoate: Pyrantel pamoate is active against hookworm and ascarids. It works on cholinergic receptors of nematode which results in spastic paralysis. Peristaltic action of the intestinal tract eliminates the parasites.
Febantel: Febantel is active against nematode parasites including whipworm. It is rapidly absorbed and metabolized in animals. It blocks the parasite’s energy metabolism.
Each ml of Drontal Puppy Oral Suspension for Puppies contains:
Pyrantel pamoate 14.4mg
Febantel 15mg
For puppies and young dogs up to one year of age.
How to use
Drontal Plus [Praziquantel, Pyrantel pamoate, Febantel] should be administered by mouth directly or mixed with small amount of food. This medication should not be used in puppies less than 3 weeks of age or dogs weighing less than 2 lbs.
For puppies and small dogs between 2 to 25 lbs:

Drug Interaction
Drontal Plus [Praziquantel, Pyrantel pamoate, Febantel] tablets should not be used in pregnant animals though the effects of the medication on pregnant animals have not been determined.
Uses
Drontal Plus [Praziquantel, Pyrantel pamoate, Febantel] is used for the removal of the tapeworm, hookworm and the whipworm in dogs.
Storage
Drontal Plus [Praziquantel, Pyrantel pamoate, Febantel] tablets should be stored at a temperature between 15o to 30oC (59o to 86oF), away from heat and moisture. Keep away from children.
Precaution
Hygienic precautions should be taken strictly handling dogs or feces suspected of harboring tapeworm. Infected dogs treated for the first time with Drontal Plus [Praziquantel, Pyrantel pamoate, Febantel] and dogs treated at intervals greater than 28 days may shed eggs in feces even after the treatment. The dog should be held in clinic during this interval and its feces should be burnt to ash or sterilized. The areas where the dog was maintained or in contact with should be thoroughly cleaned with bleach and dried before reuse.
