	Description
	Estrace [ESTRADIOL] is basically a female hormone called estrogen. This drug is useful for women who stop manufacturing it naturally. 	How to use
	Estrace [ESTRADIOL] is available in the form of tablet and vaginal cream. The tablets are usually to be taken once a day. The vaginal cream has to be applied on clean dry and hairless skin. Do not apply if skin is damaged or irritated. The site of application needs to be rotated daily.


	Side Effects

It is important that the doctor checks the patient every 3 to 6 months during long-term Estrace [ESTRADIOL] use. If any problem occurs administration for the drug should be stopped immediately. Estrace [ESTRADIOL] should not be taken by pregnant women. It may cause defects in the unborn child. Mothers who are still breastfeeding their baby should also not be given this drug as it may harm the baby. Women need to take some form of birth control measure while on medication so as to prevent pregnancy.


	Drug Interaction
	Estrace [ESTRADIOL] and Warfarin should not be taken together as the former may lead to loss of anticoagulation which is exactly the opposite of what the latter does. Estrace [ESTRADIOL] should not be prescribed if the patient is already been administered Rifampin Carbamazepine Griseofulvin Primidone Barbiturates or Phenytoin. These drugs are used to reduce estrogen and hence have a counter-effect on Estrace [ESTRADIOL].


	Uses
	Menopause leads to fall in the estrogen levels of women as the ovaries cannot produce estrogens by themselves. Estrace [ESTRADIOL] leads to rise in the level of estrogen in the body and thus reduces vaginal irritation dryness and hot flashes that come with menopause. Estrace [ESTRADIOL] should be used for the shortest time possible for menopausal treatment. Estrogen helps in strengthening bones. As a result Estrace Generic can be used in the treatment of osteoporosis. This disease is increasingly being seen younger women and hence effective treatment is necessary. Estrace [ESTRADIOL] has also been known to be used for reducing symptoms of certain forms of cancer. Administering high doses of Estrace [ESTRADIOL] on patients suffering from prostrate cancer leads to suppression of testosterone which is known to aggravate cancer. Estrace [ESTRADIOL] does not help patients in breast cancer but can be used as palliative treatment to be used to reduce symptoms when all other medication has failed.


	Storage
	Both the tablet and the vaginal cream of Estrace [ESTRADIOL] should be kept in temperatures between 15° 59°F and 30°C 86°F.


	Precaution
	There are certain conditions in which Estrace [ESTRADIOL] should not be used. Never use Estrace [ESTRADIOL] if you are suffering from a blood clot or vaginal bleeding.
