	Description
	Fluconazole belongs to a class of drugs known as triazole antifungal drug. It is available in a form of eye drop. Fluconazole is used for the treatment and prevention of superficial and systemic fungal infections caused to the eye which cause discharge irritation and redness to the eyes. Fluconazole eye drop is used for the treatment and prophylaxis of fungal infections where other antifungal eye drops have failed or are not tolerated due to their side effects.


	How to use
	Shake the solution well before use. Lean the head backward till the eyes look forward toward the ceiling. Place the dropper on top of the eye about an inch away from its surface. Do not let the dropper touch the surface of the eye. Slowly squeeze the dropper to make sure that only one drop is being let out. Slowly close the eye and with a finger press gently at the corner of the eye close to nose for better absorption of the solution. Stay in that position for two minutes. Repeat it for the other eye if prescribed or directed by the physician. Always wash hands properly before use as it may contaminate the solution if comes in contact with the tip of the dropper. Replace the cap properly. The recommended dosage is 1 drop of Fluconazole twice daily.


	Side Effects
	There are certain Fluconazole side effects indicated which may differ individually There may be an increase in eye pressure. This medication may cause skin reactions such as rash and itching. Allergic reactions are indicated such as hives facial swelling and sudden onset of diarrhea vomiting and seizures. Apart from these there are other side effects like dizziness nausea alteration in taste dyspepsia and abdominal pain.


	Drug Interaction
	The physician should be informed and consulted if the patient is going through any other therapy other than Fluconazole. The combined use of Fluconazole eye drop and other medication may cause negative interactions.


	Uses
	Fluconazole is used to treat infections with fungi and yeasts. It kills fungi that cause infection by interfering with their cell membranes. It works by inhibiting the fungi from producing a substance called ergosterol which is an essential for fungal cell membrane.


	Storage
	Fluconazole eye drop should be stored at a temperature below 30oC 86oF.


	Precaution
	Patients allergic to Fluconazole should take precaution and consult the physician before applying. For other precautionary measures consult the physician.
