	Januvia [Sitagliptin phosphate] may lead to adverse reactions if taken simultaneously with digoxin Lanoxin Lanoxicaps. It is also important to let the doctor know if the patient is on medication of any drug which lowers blood sugar levels. For example probenecid Benemid aspirin like Pepto-Bismol sulfa Bactrim nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAID’s and beta-blockers Tenormin. There may be other drugs not mentioned here which should not be taken simultaneously with Januvia [Sitagliptin phosphate]. It is thus imperative to speak to the doctor before medication is started.


	Uses
	Januvia [Sitagliptin phosphate] is used for the following purposes: 1 It helps in controlling blood sugar levels in patients suffering from Type 2 diabetes. 2 Between meals it keeps the blood sugar levels normal in patients. 3 The natural production of insulin in the body is improved by the drug. 4 The drug does not cause the blood sugar level to drop too low.


	Storage
	Januvia [Sitagliptin phosphate] should ideally be stored at a temperature of 20 to 25 degree C. It can also be stored briefly at a temperature of 15 to 30 degree C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not dispose of the drug by flushing it down the toilet.


	Precaution
	Januvia [Sitagliptin phosphate] should not be prescribed to patients who are allergic to Sitagliptin phosphate or suffer from a condition called diabetes ketoacidosis and kidney disease. Though Januvia [Sitagliptin phosphate] is not known to affect the unborn child it is imperative to let the doctor know of an upcoming pregnancy.
