	Description
	Ketoconazole is an antibiotic as well as antifungal medication that is used in the treatment of infections which have been caused by fungus. 	Side Effects
	Ketoconazole may lead to negative side effects in case of an overdose. Symptoms include hives swelling in different parts of the body shortness of breath fainting easy bruising unusual weakness dizziness numbness confusion depression nausea low fever appetite loss dark urine jaundice increase in the rate of heartbeat and dark stool. Other side effects of Ketoconazole which are less serious are mild nausea headache mild itching stomach pain breast swelling and low libido. A doctor should be consulted if any of these symptoms persist for long.


	Drug Interaction
	Drug interactions may occur if certain drugs are taken simultaneously with Ketoconazole. 	Uses
	Ketoconazole is used in the treatment of fungal infections such as ringworm Athlete’s foot jock itch and candidiasis better known as thrush or yeast infection. Ketoconazole is also available in the form of a shampoo which doubles as a body wash treatment for tinea versicolor. Ketoconazole is also used in the treatment of eumycetoma.


	Storage
	Ketoconazole should preferably be stored at room temperature. Care should be taken to see that the medication is kept away from excessive heat and moisture. Keep out of reach of children and pets.


	Precaution
