	Description
	Lami-Stav- Nevi [Junior] is a drug used in the treatment of HIV infection in young patients between the ages of 5-18 years. It is meant to be used as first-line therapy on patients as an antiretroviral drug which is essential in view of the fact that HIV positive patients have weak immunity and are prone to infections. 	How to use
	It is imperative to administer Lami-Stav- Nevi [Junior] as per the doctor’s instructions. The first 14 days of therapy are the most risky and hence special care should be taken during this period to see that dosage and timings are maintained with utmost strictness. Since this medication is meant for patients who are below the age of 18 years it may be found that some of them are unable to swallow the tablets. In such a case two teaspoonfuls of clean drinking water about 10 ml should be used to dissolve one tablet which can then be given to the child to drink immediately. 	Side Effects
	Lami-Stav- Nevi [Junior] may lead to a few side effects in patients. Pancreatic lactic acidosis hepatitis liver failure hepatic steatosis have been reported in HIV infected patients who have been on this medication. Other side effects which have been reported are diarrhea fatigue nausea abdominal discomfort and pain malaise headache vomiting fatigue peripheral neuropathy myalgias pruritus anthralgias skin rash transient neutropenia and thrombocytopenia.


	Drug Interaction
	Lami-Stav- Nevi [Junior] may cause drug interactions when taken simultaneously with other medications. So it is imperative that the doctor is informed about all the medications the young patient is taking including vitamin and minerals so that drug interactions may be ruled out. Some drugs which are known to interact with Lami-Stav- Nevi [Junior] are Clarithomycin Ethinyl Estradiol Norethindrone Indinavir Ritonavir Methadone Rifabutin Efavirenz Fluconazole Ketoconazole and Nelfinavir. These drugs should be strictly avoided during the course of the therapy.


	Uses
	Lami-Stav- Nevi [Junior] Dispersible is used for the management of HIV infection in patients who are between 5 and 18 years of age.


	Storage
	Lami-Stav- Nevi [Junior] should be kept in a dry and cool place away from moisture and excess heat. Do not flush down medication in the toilet and do not store it near a sink or the bathroom. Keep it in an airtight container in a place that is out of reach of children and pets.


	Precaution
	Caregivers and family members of the HIV infected patient should be vigilant during therapy using Lami-Stav- Nevi [Junior]. Any symptom of hepatitis like fatigue anorexia jaundice alcoholic stools hepatomegaly malaise nausea bilirubinaria or liver tenderness should be treated as a medical emergency. If hepatitis is diagnosed medication of Lami-Stav- Nevi [Junior] should be stopped immediately. This is because hepatic failure a life-threatening condition including transaminase elevation may even develop if medication is continued.
