	Description

	Drug Interaction
	Patients who are being administered Minipress [Prazosin hydrochloride] should be given the lowest dosage of PDE-5 inhibitor as possible. Alcohol can also cause interaction with this drug. Consumption of alcohol should be kept at the lowest level possible. Other medications which may cause drug interactions if taken in combination with Minipress [Prazosin hydrochloride] are: 1) Beta blockers like Propranolol 2) Ibuprofen 3) Verapamil 4) Diuretics like hydrochlorothiazide 5) Dextroamphetamine There may be other medications which may react adversely when taken in combination with Minipress [Prazosin hydrochloride]. As such, it is imperative for the doctor to know of all the medications the patient is consuming before prescribing.


	Uses
	Minipress [Prazosin hydrochloride] is prescribed for treating hypertension with or without other drugs. A lowered blood pressure leads to decreased risk of developing strokes, kidney problems and heart attacks. Prazosin belongs to a class of drugs called the alpha blockers. This drug is also known to be used to treat blood circulation disorders such as ergotamine-induced peripheral ischemia and Raynaud's phenomenon. It also treats the condition when the patient has frequent urination caused by an enlarged prostrate.


	Other Uses
	This drug may also be used for congestive heart failure or Raynaud's disease. This drug can also be used in males for symptoms of prostate enlargement such as urinary hesitancy and/or urgency.


	Storage
	Minipress [Prazosin hydrochloride] should be stored at room temperature between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C). It should be kept away from direct heat and excess moisture. Keep out of reach of children and pets. The drug should not be stored in the bathroom or near a sink. The drug should not be flushed down the toilet as a means of disposal.


	Precaution
	Patients who are being medicated Minipress [Prazosin hydrochloride] should be cautioned against driving or performing hazardous tasks during the first 24 hours of having the medication for the first time. Dizziness, fainting and light-headedness are common occurrences in the first few hours of starting treatment. Alcohol should be consumed with caution during therapy. Women who are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant should let the doctor know before starting administration of this drug. Minipress [Prazosin hydrochloride] is not recommended for mothers who are breastfeeding their babies.
