	Description
	Mitaban [Amitraz Liquid Dip Concentrate] is an anti-parasitic medication that is used in the treatment of demodectic mange, a sort of skin disease in dogs. It is a topical medication and belongs to the class of drugs called mono-amine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI). This medication works by interrupting the growth of parasites. Mitaban [Amitraz Liquid Dip Concentrate] is also prescribed for the prevention of ticks in dogs.


	How to use
	Mitaban [Amitraz Liquid Dip Concentrate] is a prescription medication and should be used as directed by the veterinarian. Before application for the first time, the dog should be bathed with water and a mild soap and dried with a towel. Usually a bottle of the medication (10.6 ml) is mixed with 2 gallons of lukewarm water. In case the dog is large, two bottles of the medication should be mixed with 4 gallons of lukewarm water. This preparation should be used to apply throughout the body of the dog. The medication thus should be rinsed or dried with a towel. Instead it should be allowed to dry naturally. Care should be taken to see that the medication does not enter the eyes of the dog. Usually three to six applications are recommended for a full cure. Each application should be 14 days apart from each other. Small children and pregnant women should not go near the dog when the preparation is still not dry.


	Side Effects
	Dogs that have just undergone treatment using Mitaban [Amitraz Liquid Dip Concentrate] may be sleepy. Care should be taken to see that the dog is not stressed for a period of 24 hours after the treatment has been done. The dog should be kept dry between treatments. This medication is not recommended for dogs that are diabetic. This medication should not be used on dogs who are not even 4 months of age. The person who is conducting the treatment should wear rubber gloves. A diabetic person should not conduct the treatment.


	Drug Interaction
	Mitaban [Amitraz Liquid Dip Concentrate] may cause adverse drug interactions when taken simultaneously with certain other medications. Caution should be exercised if the dog who is being prescribed Mitaban [Amitraz Liquid Dip Concentrate] is also taking Preventive Collar, meperidine or fluoxetine. While treatment is going on, the dog should not be given any over-the-counter medication without consulting the veterinarian.


	Uses
	Mitaban (Amitraz Liquid Dip Concentrate) is used to treat generalized demodicosis (mange) in dogs. Veterinarians may prescribe it for other condition also.


	Storage
	Mitaban [Amitraz Liquid Dip Concentrate] should be stored at room temperature between 20° to 25°C (68° to 77°F). It should be kept out of excess heat, direct sunlight and moisture. Care should be taken to see that the medication is kept away from children and pets.


	Precaution
	After treatment is done using Mitaban [Amitraz Liquid Dip Concentrate], the person should avoid handling other pets for some time. Diabetic persons should not conduct the treatment. A person who is being administered a MAOI such as Selegiline or Anipryl, should also not conduct the treatment. Small children and pregnant women should not be allowed to go near the dog that is still wet with the preparation.
