	Description
	Mobic [Meloxicam] is a medication used in the treatment of inflammation and pain caused due to arthritis. Mobic belongs to a group of drugs known as NSAID’s or Non- Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs. This medication may be used for purposes other than the one which has been stated here.


	How to use
	Mobic [Meloxicam] should be taken as advised by the doctor. Dosage instructions should be followed strictly. Generally adults are not recommended to administer themselves not more than 15 mg a day. The medication is not recommended to be taken for a longer period than has been prescribed nor should larger doses be taken. While treatment is going on, appointment with the doctor should regularly be made in order to check whether the medication is causing any problems.


	Side Effects
	Mobic [Meloxicam] may lead to certain side effects in some people. If symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness, slurred speech, balancing problems or problems in vision occur, they should be treated as a medical emergency. This medication has reportedly increased the risk of intestine or stomach problems, including perforation and bleeding. These conditions may turn out to be fatal if proper action is not taken as early as possible. Older adults have an even greater risk of developing these conditions. Some patients have also been known to suffer from bleeding of the intestines or the stomach. If symptoms such as black, bloody and tarry stools, bloody vomit or cough are noticed emergency help should be called for immediately as these side effects are extremely serious. Another kind of side effects that Mobic [Meloxicam] are known to cause are serious skin reactions such as Steven Johnson’s Syndrome, exfoliative dermatitis and TEN (Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis). Patients should be made to know that the medication should be made aware that medication should be stopped at the first signs of skin trouble.


	Drug Interaction
	Mobic [Meloxicam] may lead to adverse drug interactions when it is taken in combination with certain other medications. The following medications are known to cause drug interactions: 1) Anti-depressants like citalopram (Celexa), escitalopram (Lexapro), fluvoxamine (Luvox), sertraline (Zoloft), citalopram (Celexa), escitalopram (Lexapro), paroxetine (Paxil), venlafaxine (Effexor) and fluoxetine (Prozac, Symbyax, Sarafem) 2) cyclosporine (Gengraf, Sandimmune, Neoral) 3) diuretics like furosemide (Lasix) 4) glyburide (Micronase, DiaBeta) 5) blood thinners like warfarin (Coumadin) 6) ACE inhibitors like benazepril (Lotensin), fosinopril (Monopril), lisinopril (Zestril, Prinivil), perindopril (quinapril (Accupril), Aceon), ramipril (Altace), captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), moexipril (Univasc), quinapril (Accupril), trandolapril (Mavik). 7) lithium (Lithobid, Eskalith) 8) methotrexate (Trexall, Rheumatrex,) 9) steroids (prednisone and others) 10) aspirin and other NSAID’s such as etodolac (Lodine), indomethacin (Indocin), naproxen (Naprosyn, Aleve), diclofenac (Voltaren), ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), indomethacin (Indocin), naproxen (Naprosyn, Aleve) and ketoprofen (Orudis).


	Uses
	Mobic [Meloxicam] is used in the treatment of inflammation and pain caused by arthritis.


	Storage
	Mobic [Meloxicam] should be kept at room temperature in a cool and dry place.
