How to use
Plavix [Clopidogrel bisulfate] is prescribed on persons who have an increased risk of strokes and heart attacks due to the recent occurrence of stroke, heart attack and Peripheral Artery Disease or P.A.D.
This drug can be administered alone or it may be paired with aspirin. The latter is recommended for persons who are suffering from Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS), a condition that causes unstable angina. Persons who have been hospitalized due to a STEMI heart attack also lie at an increased risk of a future strokes, heart attacks or blood clots, each of which may be fatal. This drug is prescribed for them too.
Side Effects
Administering Plavix [Clopidogrel bisulfate] may cause side effects in some patients. The most common side effects which have been reported are diarrhea, rash, severe itching (pruritus) and purpura (a severe rash which causes purplish spots and patches).
If a patient has a condition due to which he suffers from bleeding, or if he has a stomach ulcer, this drug is not recommended. This is because this drug may increase the risk of bleeding when it is administered by itself or in combination with other drugs.
Few patients have experienced a serious but rare side effect called TTP, a condition that may be life-threatening. It has been reported to occur within a couple of weeks of starting medication.

Drug Interaction

2) torsemide (Demadex)
3) blood thinners such as warfarin (Coumadin), dalteparin (Fragmin), tinzaparin (Innohep), heparin, enoxaparin (Lovenox)
4) medications that prevent blood clots such as alteplase (Activase), ticlopidine (Ticlid), urokinase (Abbokinase) and dipyridamole (Persantine)
5) medications that reduce stomach acid such as dexlansoprazole (Kapidex), omeprazole (Zegerid, Prilosec), rabeprazole (AcipHex), esomeprazole(Nexium), lansoprazole (Prevacid) and pantoprazole (Protonix)
6) tamoxifen (Nolvadex)
7) torsemide (Demadex).
Uses
Plavix [Clopidogrel bisulfate] is used for the following purposes:
1) It is used in the prevention of strokes or heart attack in persons who have an increased risk of these diseases.
2) It is used in the prevention of myocardial reinfarction.
3) It is used in the treatment of Acute ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction and unpredictable severe constricting chest pain.
4) It is used in the prevention of the formation of blood clots in the brain or a vascular stent.

Other Uses
