Provera contains active ingredient known as medroxyprogesterone acetate and other inactive ingredients. Medroxyprogesterone acetate is a synthetic form of naturally occurring female sex hormone, progesterone. How to use

Progestin withdrawal bleeding usually occurs within 3 to 7 days after the discontinuation of the therapy.
For patients with abnormal uterine bleeding due to hormonal imbalance in the absence of organic pathology, the recommended dose is 10mg of Provera [medroxyprogesterone acetate] daily for 10 days beginning on the 16th day of the menstrual cycle. Beginning on the calculated 16th or 21st day of the menstrual cycle, 5mg to 10mg of Provera [medroxyprogesterone acetate] may be given daily for 5 to 10 days.

Storage
Provera [medroxyprogesterone acetate] tablets should be stored at a temperature between 20°C to 25°C (68° to 77°F). Keep away from children.
Precaution
Provera [medroxyprogesterone acetate] tablets should not be used during pregnancy as it does not provide any contraception against pregnancy.

Precautions should be taken where the patients are suffering from liver disease and decreased liver function.

Women with abnormal vaginal bleeding of unknown cause should not use this tablet.
Porphyrias patients should avoid this therapy.
