Salbutamol is the active ingredient in the composition of Volmax with other inactive ingredients. Salbutamol belongs to a class of drugs known as short-acting beta 2 agonist. Volmax [Salbutamol] is commonly taken using the inhaler device. There is Volmax [Salbutamol] tablet for those who cannot use inhaler well. The tablets are ‘controlled release tablets’. It means the tablet release salbutamol slowly over 12 hours. It is used for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In case of asthma and COPD it becomes difficult for air to get in and out of the lungs and makes it difficult to breathe. Volmax [Salbutamol] works by acting on the beta 2 receptors in the lungs and stimulating them, causing the muscles in the airways to relax. This allows the airways to open and thereby making it easier to breathe. Volmax [Salbutamol] when used as an inhaler is known as reliever because it works very quickly to relieve asthma attacks, wheezing, chest tightness or shortness of breath.
How to use
Adult and children above 12 years of age should not take more than 32 milligrams per day where as children aged between 6 and 12, should not take more than 24 milligrams per day.
Volmax [Salbutamol] tablet is taken orally by mouth, usually twice a day with a difference of 12 hours between each dose or as directed by the physician.
Tablets should be swallowed whole and not chewed, crushed or broken. Doing so, it can destroy the long action of the drug and may increase side effects.
Volmax [Salbutamol] taken using inhaler is better because it goes and act directly in lungs where it is needed the most. It also reduces potential for side effects occurring in other parts of the body, as the amount of drug absorbed into the blood through lungs is lower than if it is taken by mouth in a form of tablet.
